It’s that time of year again! I feel like it’s Christmas in the spring. There are so many cute shoes out now, and we’ve got to stock up!
But, before I show you all the ones I have my eye on, I want to address a dilemma a friend came to me with a short time ago. She needed some advice on comfortable, stylish dress shoes now that she’s back to working in the office. Oh by the way, if they could also accommodate a bunion that would be a win also!
Thankfully, my feet haven’t given me trouble lately, but I do have friends and family who have struggled with bunions, hammertoes and post-surgery foot recovery. Finding shoes that are comfortable and don’t aggravate the issue can be tough because after all, you gotta wear shoes in public!
So here’s what I know about bunions. They are a bony bump that forms on a joint at the base of the big toe. It usually happens when the big toe pushes on the second toe. It can be caused by stress (shocker, doesn’t stress cause everything!?), too tight shoes (especially high heels) and arthritis. A hammertoe is a foot condition in which the toe (usually the second toe) has an abnormal bend in the middle joint. Guess what, this is also caused by high heels or too small toe boxes on footwear. The easy way to prevent this, young readers, is to not wear high heels too often with small toe boxes! But for those of us who didn’t know this little tip, hopefully I can offer a little help.
So for my working girls, friends who have foot issues and anyone looking for a stylish, comfortable shoe, here’s some options. Bunions and hammertoes don’t like to be confined, so I looked for shoes that have some give – made of fabric or woven leather. Additionally, I looked for dressier sandals that have a wider strap that runs across the bunion or toe so it can contain the issue and distribute the pressure. These days we seem to be less conservative at the office, so a few of the sandals could be paired with a cute suit or long skirt.
Now, on to the fun stuff! I have included all sorts of price points and mixed in sneakers, beach options and party shoes because hopefully we all have some fun events planned this summer!

Oh By the Way, these cheapies from Amazon are the squishiest, most comfy, cute slides. So far, we have three pairs in the house. We may end up with a fourth!

Are kitten heels still fashionable (for those of us at a certain age)?

So many cute shoes and only two feet!

Thanks for including flats since all of us cannot stand in heels! Wearing high heels with pointed toes and standing all day in a classroom had ugly effects on feet/legs…beware of standing too long in heels! After seeing options I am ready to shop!

The Senso – Pica Sandal looks like the perfect shoe! They look simple and quite stylish with the straps winding around the ankle. Thanks for all the gorgeous choices for the summer season!
